Database and Security Engineer: Provide guidance to customer population in a) effective use of database and web servers, b) compliance with corporate standards and requirements, and in particular, perform Security Control Champion role for R&A. Manage and operate Oracle, Sybase, and MS-SQL database servers, including backup and recovery, space management, and access control; manage the servers (Unix, MS-Windows, Linux) they run on. Manage and operate IPlanet, Zope, MS-IIS, Apache, and PHP web servers on Solaris, Windows, and Linux platforms. Provide, maintain, and use productivity/automation tools, written in Perl, "C", Unix Shells, et. al. as appropriate Maintain extensive web site for use by RCS and R&A, to automate customer requests, document site policies, provide information about site servers and services, etc. Using feeds from local network audit scripts, network switch interrogators, the corporate directory service (CDS), etc., maintain database of computer systems, their status, IDs thereon, etc. to support proper data handling, various security initiatives, the PC renewal program, the UNIX EOL program, etc. Coordinate ID management for local and coporate computer systems (e.g. RACF/CPARS, MS-Exchange/AutomotiveNA1, local UNIX systems, databases, etc.) Document procedures, scan for orphan files upon employee departure

Skills Required:
Ensure GAO requirements for disaster recovery, annual communications to customers, quarterly access audits, password changes, web content scans, etc. as documented in procedure book are completed. Plan and coordinate use of Storage Area Network - port management. EMC and Engenio SAN attached disk management, using vendor specific tools (e.g. Santricity). Install and support license management systems, analytical tools such as Clementine, user need specific tools such as Telematics Doors. Other tasks as needs of the Research Computers Systems in supporting R&A dictate. Desire to serve a wildly diverse customer base, in a highly technical environment, working in close partnership with other IT professionals with both complementary and overlapping skills. Ability to engage, at appropriate level, customers with varied levels of IT awareness/knowledge/interest. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Experience Required:
Mastery of Oracle database servers and utilities, including ability to create/restore instances, use SQL-Loader, use Oracle Import/Export tools, PL/SQL, etc. Ideally, familiar with EBCDIC as well as ASCII, to facilitate loading certain corporate data sets. Competence in logical database design - Extended Relational Analysis or the like. "C", Unix Shell, and Perl programming skills. Python desirable. Solaris, MS-Windows, and Linux system administration, in an environment with NFS and NIS. Some HP and SGI-IRIX experience desirable. Familiarity with ACRs, ICRs, SCRPs, BA MCRPs. Familiarity with IT PM. Familiarity with SCT, SeOS, SINF, and Tivoli. Web application development experience. Facile with HTML, including forms and CSS; server side includes; cgi-bin scripts; Automotive's WSL. XML parsing/generation experience desirable. Must be willing to advocate for special needs of customers at the Research and Innovation Center, and be willing to use professional judgment in determining applicability of IT PM dictums to RIC.
